Medication-Assisted Treatment

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is a form of addiction treatment that involves a combination of therapy and prescribed medications.  MAT addresses certain types of substance use disorder including alcohol and opioid use disorders.

Long term benefits of MAT may include improved survival rates and increased treatment retention

The goal is to address different aspects of addiction, including:

  • Physical
  • Psychological
  • Social
  • Behavioral
  • Spiritual

The use of medication-assisted treatment in treating substance abuse disorders can help:

  • Reunite families
  • Higher employment rates
  • Prevent relapse
  • Alleviate withdrawal symptoms
  • Reduce cravings
  • Enhance mental health

Common medications that are utilized include:

  • Buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone, Sublocade, Brixadi)
  • Naltrexone (Vivitrol)
  • Acamprosate
  • Clonidine
  • Naloxone (Narcan)

*We do not administer methodone at this time.
