Physician Position

Physician (Family practice/General practice)
  • Under the general direction of the Medical Director and Executive Director, Physician is directly responsible for providing Medical Care and promoting other Health Programs to the patients of MCMC.
Principle Duties/Responsibilities
  • Will follow the MCMC schedule for seeing patients per day.
  • Will supervise nurses in all procedures required for each patient seen.
  • Will document diagnoses and procedures for filing insurance claims and write all necessary information on the encounter form and in patient record as required for proper patient treatment as the patients are seen.
  • Complete charting of patient visits within 24 hours of visit.
  • Be available for calls from patients needing information that cannot be given by nurses or other staff members.
  • Will give patient follow-up information on all tests done in as timely a manner as possible.
  • Follow all Quality Improvement processes as implemented by the Board of Directors.
  • Participate in all staff meetings and trainings as directed by the Executive Director.
  • Maintain all CME hours and professional certifications required by the State to keep license and insurance coverage current.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Possesses a degree from an accredited school of medicine, as well as three years postgraduate training or equivalent certification.
  • Possesses a current, valid license to practice medicine issued by the State of Tennessee, and Board certified in Family Practice; retains currency of knowledge of medical advances through continuing education and maintains awareness of Federal, state, local and clinic regulations and guidelines for the provision of primary health care services.
  • Must have a current and valid DEA license.
  • Possesses high level of verbal communication skills, including the ability to demonstrate attention to patients’ and staff needs and respond accordingly.
  • Basic computer skills including the ability to prepare reports in Microsoft Word, and summarize and report data in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Must possess a current and valid Tennessee Driver’s License
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work will be performed indoors in an office environment, with exposure to conditions typically associated with a medical/dental office such as sickness, accidents, odors, etc. Duties are typically performed next to a patient, which may involve exposure to a wide range of medical conditions, requiring adherence to safety and health protocols, including wearing of protective garments, gloves, face shields or masks, and gowns. Employees must possess the following physical requirements:

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and push (on a cart or other wheeled device) up to 100 pounds.
  • Able to communicate with staff on a telephone, and hear and speak clearly to patients and others served “in person”.
  • Has vision sufficient to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms, and clinical and administrative documents with or without corrective lenses.
  • Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to perform actions requiring repetitive hand motions.
  • Able to reach above shoulder level to work, as well as bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn, finger and feel.
  • May be required to work unusual hours or shifts, and may be required to change shifts with little notice.
Salary Range
  • The Salary is negotiable, determining factors are experience, education, extended training etc. Salary will be competitive with doctors of the same level of training from the local area.
